About Nona Lisa

Nona Lisa (Lisa Westcott) has over 35 years of experience, teaching music classes, drama, voice, and bible study to children ages 3 to 18, as an elementary and upper grades music specialist in both Connecticut and Florida. She resigned in 1999 when pregnant with her second child and made the decision with her husband to homeschool their children. During the time she was homeschooling, she served as the Regional Director of a performing arts discipleship company. She decided to return to school when their youngest was in eighth grade, but opted for a private Christian school, where she taught for seven years.

In 2022, she became a proud grandma to triplets and spends every available moment with them!!!
Nona Lisa (which means grandma in Italian😉) decided to return to her roots, teaching homeschool children! The years that she was home teaching her own children, are some of her most favorite memories!
Lisa holds a bachelor’s degree in K-12 music education from The Hartt School of Music at the University of Hartford in West Hartford, CT.

SERVICES

ALL services qualify for Step Up funds as I am a direct provider.

Primary Music Classes

**Kindergarten/1st grade classes are once a week for 45 minutes. $25 per week, payable by the month in advance.
K and 1st grade music classes will involve the use of fun manipulatives, such as finger puppets, hand puppets, felt boards, scarves, parachutes, simple classroom instruments to teach steady beat/rhythm, music focused books, and circle games.

**2nd/3rd grade classes are once a week for 45 minutes. $30 per week, payable by the month in advance
2nd and 3rd grade classes will begin learning music terminology, more complex rhythms, improving their sight singing ability through weekly vocal and rhythmic drills, learning to read the musical staff and identify pitches, all in preparation for the 2nd semester of 3rd grade where students will learn to play the recorder!!!

**Once you sign up for a day, you are not permitted to switch without getting approval.

IF you are using STEP UP funds, register by contacting me with form below, and then reserving funds with Step Up, but if you are not, you may simply send an email by contacting me below and specifying which class you are signing up for as well as the name and age of your child. Payment is per month and must be received prior to first class of month via Cashapp ($LisaSanchesWestcott) or cash.

Elementary and Secondary Worship Teams

Contemporary worship teams are forming in September for elementary ages 8-11 and middle school ages 12-15!!!

Mondays, beginning September 14, 2026

Elementary team- 2:00 pm-3:30 pm

Middle school team- 3:45 pm-5:45 pm

$100/month

Students will learn simple choreography to accompany the praise and worship songs they learn.

Emphasis will be on allowing themselves to be used by God to minister to others through song.

*Students will learn how, as worshippers, they are to lead others to the throne room of Jesus.

Weekly rehearsals will focus on warmups, understanding the message of the song, learning vocal parts, choreography, and spreading joy!

VOLUNTARY monthly outreaches will be planned for Saturday mornings beginning in December, just in time to bless those in retirement homes!

PRIVATE VOICE LESSONS

Voice lessons specifically designed for the musical theatre homeschool student or adult! We will work on successfully interpreting the message in the song of your choice, blocking your movements, tailoring your acting to convey the character, and training your voice to sing musical theatre repertoire with power!

Voice lessons are 1x per week for 45 minutes- price is $35. (Beginning in August 2026, 45 minute lessons will increase to $45)

Children 8-12 years- 30 minute lesson-price is $30 per lesson. (Beginning in August 2026, 30 minute lessons will increase to $35)

Lessons will be held on Tuesday afternoons and evenings, Wednesday mornings and Thursday afternoons and evenings (for traditionally schooled students and adults)

***If two siblings in the same age bracket, wish to combine a lesson, a 45 minute lesson would be $30 for each student. A 30 minute lesson, would be $25 for each student.

***Cancellations must be made before 7 am the day of lesson or you will be charged for the lesson.

Elementary and Middle School Drama

Elementary (8-11yrs) drama will meet every Tuesday from 3 pm- 4:45 pm

$150/month

Middle School (12-15 yrs) drama will meet every Wednesday from 3 pm- 5 pm

$200/month

Elementary students will learn the foundational aspects of acting such as stage directions, drama terminology, improvisation, blocking, and projection. They will work in small groups on skits with various emotions so they can grow as an actor.

Middle school students will also go through a review of the basics, as well as learning the roles of every aspect of the theatre. Students will progress quickly into monologue work, scene work, and eventually a class group project, where students will take the lead as director, asst. director, costumer, prop design, stage manager of their own short play.

Students will also create human video scenes after dissecting a Christian song and finding the dramatic elements that can be portrayed through acting.

Summer Musical Theatre Audition Preparation Workshop

Learn how to prepare for a musical theatre audition in this exciting and fun 5-day workshop!!!

Students age 8-18 can register and if homeschooled, may use their StepUp funds for this workshop.

You will learn how to pick the best audition song, how to do a cold reading from the script, as well as how to handle a dance audition when you may not be a trained dancer! And each day, we will do some fun improvs!

You will also learn important audition day tips to make you stand out! The last day will be a mock audition for a musical that you will not know the name of until day 1 of the workshop, where you will sing, do a cold reading, and dance.

At the completion of the week, audition notes and critiques from the "judges" will be emailed to you so you know how your audition went and any constructive criticism that will help you!!

All classes and voice lessons are open to ALL homeschoolers! Music with Nona Lisa is not associated with any homeschool co-op, and there is NO registration fee!!!

Music with Nona Lisa is registered with Step Up, as a homeschool direct provider in order that parents may use their scholarships for her fun and engaging music classes!
